ExitVent
Runs a short voice or text interview after a cancellation has already completed. A Stripe event or an API call mints a one-time link, the customer answers in their own words, and the transcript comes back as a root cause, a theme tree, and a list of accounts you might still save.

How does ExitVent actually reduce churn?
ExitVent works on the stretch of the funnel most tools skip. Save flows and dunning run before or during the cancellation, aimed at stopping it. ExitVent runs after it completes, on the customers who left anyway, and turns what they say into a root cause and a save list. It will not reduce churn by itself. It tells you which churn is worth fixing, which is the part most teams are still guessing at.
What is ExitVent?
ExitVent runs the interview almost nobody bothers with. When a subscription is cancelled in Stripe, or when your own cancel flow calls POST /v1/triggers, it opens a feedback session and mints a one-time magic link. The customer taps it and answers in their own words, by voice note or by typing, and the interview asks up to three adaptive follow-ups to get past "too expensive" to whatever is sitting underneath it.
Each completed session comes back analysed rather than raw. You get a one-line summary, a root cause, an evidence-backed theme tree with polarity and weight, and risk flags for billing, privacy, data loss, legal, compliance, security and abuse. Customer success gets a save list of accounts that may still be recoverable. Product gets themes ranked by how often they actually cost money. All of it is readable through the API, which matters if you want an agent working from a clean problem statement instead of a survey export nobody opens.
The part I keep coming back to is the tone of the exit message. Most cancellation surveys open with a rating scale and close with a panic discount. ExitVent's opens with "You just cancelled. Fair enough," and then asks plainly: not with a form, not with star ratings, not with some how likely are you to recommend us nonsense. Just tell us what actually happened, and don't soften it. Nobody fills in a five-point scale on their way out the door. Plenty of people will spend forty seconds venting into a voice note if you ask them like an adult.
There is a live demo at exitvent.com/demo worth two minutes of your time. No signup, no Stripe connection, no snippet. You paste your real website URL, it reads the site to work out what you sell and who buys it, then builds the exit page your churning customers should have met. That is the fastest way to judge whether the questions are any good, which is the only thing that really decides whether a tool like this earns its place.

Who should use ExitVent?
What are the pros and cons of ExitVent?
Pros
- The exit message reads like a person asking a favour, not a survey. That is most of why it gets answers at all.
- Voice notes get you the version people would say out loud, which is almost never the version they would type into a box
- Free for six months with no card, so you find out whether your customers will talk before you pay anything
- No feature gating between tiers. You pay for session volume, not to unlock the useful parts.
- The demo runs on your real website URL with no signup, so the questions can be judged in about a minute
- API and signed webhooks mean the output is usable outside their dashboard
Cons
- It fires after the cancellation completes, so it will not rescue the customer leaving right now. Pair it with a save flow.
- The automatic trigger is Stripe-first. Other billing systems work, but you are calling the API yourself.
- Volume is the catch. Thirty cancellations a month gives you anecdotes, not a theme tree worth trusting.
- Young product, and the demo is openly labelled a preview rather than the finished thing
- Exit interview response rates are never wonderful however well you ask, so plan around a minority of leavers replying
