TLDR My quick take on 1Capture
A trial that never converts is the first churn you have, and most teams never count it. 1Capture replaces your trial sign-up with a hosted page that validates the card up front, then split-tests AI-drafted versions of that page. Stripe only, monthly only, and the big case study comes from a sister company, so run your own numbers in the free 30 days.

How does 1Capture actually reduce churn?

Activation Setup Moment

Most churn work starts once someone is paying, which skips the stage where the most people leave. A trial that quietly expires is churn with no cancellation reason attached. 1Capture works at that boundary, and the card validation is the clever part: a card checked on day zero turns a future payment failure into a sign-up decision you can see, measure and test.

What is 1Capture?

1Capture sits earlier in the funnel than most of this directory. It does nothing for a customer who has been paying for a year. What it works on is the trial, the point where most SaaS businesses lose more people than they will ever lose to cancellation, and where the losses rarely show up in a churn report because those people never became customers.

The core mechanic is the trial page. You pick a Stripe product, 1Capture drafts a sign-up page for it, you edit it to fit your brand and publish it on your own domain or a 1c.to link. When someone starts a trial, the page places a pending charge on their card so it is validated before access begins. That is the whole argument for the product: a card checked on day zero is far less likely to fail on day fourteen, so the conversion problem and the involuntary churn problem shrink at the same moment.

On top of that sits testing. The AI drafts new versions of the page, 1Capture splits traffic evenly between them, and you keep the winner. Signups carry their UTM tags, referrer and ad click IDs, so you can see which channel produces trials that actually convert rather than trials that just start. You can get an alert when a high-value prospect signs up, and abandoned or failed trials get an automatic win-back sequence, with an optional discount. A mandatory terms checkbox logs a timestamp you can show when a dispute is filed.

Pricing is unusual and mostly sensible. Under $10K MRR it is $19 a month. Above that it moves through flat bands ($95, $295, $595, $995, then $1,995 above $1M MRR), with MRR rechecked weekly from your Stripe account. There are no transaction fees and no cut of revenue. The first 30 days cost nothing and signup does not ask for a card. Plans are monthly only, and every plan above $10K MRR includes a 30-minute onboarding call.

Read the evidence carefully. The headline result, VoiceDrop going from 12% to 57% trial conversion, comes from a product built by the same team, and 1Capture says so on its pricing page. The "2-3x typical" claim has no published sample behind it. Two features, blocking serial disputers and backup payment methods, are marked coming soon and should not factor into a decision yet.

What can 1Capture actually do?

  • Smart payment capture: a pending charge validates the card before trial access begins
  • Hosted trial sign-up pages on your own domain or a 1c.to link, with no code required
  • AI-drafted page variants with an even traffic split, so you keep whichever converts best
  • Conversion attribution carrying UTM tags, referrer, ad click IDs and custom events for every trial
  • Alerts the moment a high-value prospect starts a trial
  • Automatic win-back sequences for abandoned and failed trials, with optional discounts
  • Custom statement descriptors so customers recognise the charge and do not dispute it
  • Mandatory terms agreement with logged timestamps to use as dispute evidence
  • Every feature on every plan; pricing changes only with your MRR band

Who should use 1Capture?

Lift trial-to-paid conversion on a Stripe-billed SaaS without rebuilding the sign-up flow in-house
Cut first-charge payment failures by validating cards before the trial starts
Find out which acquisition channel produces trials that convert, not just trials that start
Chase trials that were abandoned at sign-up or failed at the first charge
Split-test trial page copy without an engineer in the loop

What are the pros and cons of 1Capture?

Pros

  • Works on trial conversion, the leak that is usually bigger than cancellation and almost never shows up in a churn report
  • Validating the card at sign-up attacks involuntary churn before it exists, rather than chasing it with dunning afterwards
  • $19 a month under $10K MRR with no revenue share is cheap enough to test on a real funnel
  • Flat MRR bands and no transaction fees mean the bill does not grow every time a trial converts
  • Discloses its own conflict of interest on the VoiceDrop case study, which most vendors would bury

Cons

  • Stripe only. On Chargebee, Paddle, Recurly or anything else, it does not apply.
  • The headline 12% to 57% result comes from VoiceDrop, built by the same team and its first customer. Treat it as a demo, not independent evidence.
  • Asking for a card up front cuts trial starts. Whether the higher conversion rate makes up for fewer trials depends on your funnel, and you have to measure it.
  • Blocking serial disputers and backup payment methods were marked coming soon at the time of writing
  • Nothing here touches paying customers. Once a trial converts, retention is somebody else's job.
  • Monthly billing only, and the plan can move up a band after any weekly MRR check

Frequently asked questions about 1Capture

The questions buyers ask me most often about this tool.

Is 1Capture a churn tool?

Not in the usual sense. It works on trial-to-paid conversion, before anyone is a paying customer. It belongs on a churn site because an unconverted trial is lost revenue that most churn reports never count, and because validating the card at sign-up prevents a lot of first-charge failures that would otherwise end up in dunning.

How much does 1Capture cost?

$19 a month under $10K MRR. Above that it is a flat fee per MRR band: $95 for $10K to $50K, $295 for $50K to $150K, $595 for $150K to $250K, $995 for $250K to $1M and $1,995 above $1M. MRR is rechecked weekly from Stripe. No transaction fees, no setup fees, monthly plans only. The first 30 days are free and signup does not ask for a card.

Does requiring a card up front hurt sign-ups?

Usually, yes. Card-required trials start fewer people and convert a much higher share of them. The real question is whether paid customers per visitor goes up, and that depends on your traffic and price point. Measure paid customers from the same traffic over the same window rather than trusting a conversion rate on its own.

Does it work without Stripe?

No. It connects to your Stripe account, billing runs there, and the MRR band it charges you on is read from Stripe. Teams on other billing platforms should look elsewhere.

Is there a guarantee?

If you do not see significant improvement in your first 30 days on a paid plan, they refund that payment. "Significant" is not defined, so agree your baseline conversion rate before you start and measure against it.

A tool will not fix churn you have not diagnosed

Buying software is a reasonable second step. The first one is knowing which part of your churn is voluntary, which part is failed payments, and what the people who left did differently in their first month. I work that out and send you three fixes ranked by what they are worth, in writing, within 10 working days.

  • ✓ Your churn split by cause, with dollars on each
  • ✓ Three fixes, ranked, with expected recovery
  • ✓ The advice that does not apply to you
  • ✓ Fixed price, no call required
