Know your churn number
is defensible.
Every month: where your churn ranks against companies like yours, what moved, whether last month's experiment worked, and the one thing to run next. Written so you can paste the retention section straight into your board update.
“Churn went from 4.1% to 4.6% and I genuinely do not know if that is bad, if it is noise, or if it is because of the thing I shipped in March.”
Churn is a lagging, noisy, low-frequency number, which makes it almost impossible to attribute on your own. One month is not a trend. A dashboard will show you the number and stop there. What you actually need is a comparison, a verdict, and a next move.
What arrives on the first of the month
Your percentile, tracked
Not "the SaaS average is 5%". Where you sit against companies of your size, in your model, this month, and which direction you moved. Sample size shown every time.
The gap in dollars
What the distance between you and a median peer costs per year at your MRR. This is the number that makes the decision obvious, so it goes near the top.
A verdict on last month
You shipped something. Did it work? We hold the before, so you get an answer rather than a feeling. This is the part no dashboard gives you.
One experiment. Not fifty.
Drawn from a library of 51 and narrowed to the single highest-leverage move for your diagnosed weakness, your segment and what you have already tried.
A block you can paste into the investor update
Three or four sentences covering the number, the benchmark, and what you are doing about it, written in plain English and ready to drop into the doc you already have to send. Most of the value of this product is that it removes a job you were going to do badly at 11pm on the fourth of the month.

What this is not
It is not a churn prediction platform, and it does not sit in your app. It will not replace ChurnZero or Gainsight, and if you already have a retention team running weekly cohort reviews you do not need it.
It is for the founder or operator who looks at the churn number once a month, has a nagging feeling it might be bad, and has fifty possible fixes and no way to choose between them. If that is not you, save your money and use the free tools.
How the benchmark works
Your percentile comes from a reference log-normal distribution for your segment, calibrated from published churn benchmarks, blended with real submissions from companies in the same segment. The real data is weighted more heavily as a segment fills up, which means the number is usable from the first submission and gets sharper as more companies report.
Every report shows how many peers are in your comparison set. When that number is small, the report says so. A benchmark that hides its sample size is not a benchmark. See our full methodology.
