Premium Typography & Content-First Design
Upgraded ChurnTools with editorial Fraunces serif for headings and removed decorative images to put the spotlight where it belongs: on the tools you need to reduce churn.
The Philosophy
Your time is valuable. When you're evaluating churn reduction tools, you need clear information—not distractions. This update removes everything that doesn't help you make better decisions and upgrades the typography to signal trust and authority.
Editorial Typography Upgrade
Fraunces Display Serif
We've added Fraunces, a premium display serif font, for all headings. This isn't just aesthetic—it's strategic:
- Editorial authority - The same typeface family used by premium publications and B2B SaaS brands
- Modern sophistication - Variable font with optical sizing that adapts perfectly from 9pt to 144pt
- Professional signal - Communicates credibility to data-driven decision makers (founders, PMs, CS leaders)
- Distinct personality - Sets ChurnTools apart from generic directories with system fonts
- Tight letter-spacing (-0.03em) - Creates contemporary editorial feel
Strategic Font Pairing
The combination of Fraunces and Inter creates the perfect balance:
- Headings (Fraunces 800) - Bold, confident, authoritative
- Body & UI (Inter 400-700) - Clean, readable, functional
- Navigation (Inter) - Keeps interface elements consistent
- Data & metrics (Inter) - Maintains clarity for pricing and specs
Why This Matters for Your ICP
B2B SaaS leaders don't have patience for fluff or amateur presentation. They evaluate dozens of tools and need to trust the source. Fraunces signals that ChurnTools is a curated, professional resource—not just another directory.
Content-First Design
Removed Decorative Images
We've removed all tool logo images and placeholders. Here's why:
- Missing images break trust - Empty placeholders or broken images signal incomplete data
- Visual noise reduction - Tool names and descriptions are more scannable without logo distractions
- Faster page loads - No waiting for external images to load
- Cleaner aesthetic - Typography-focused design feels more premium and editorial
- Better accessibility - Screen readers and search engines prioritize text content
What Remains
Every element on ChurnTools now serves a clear purpose:
- Tool name - Clear, prominent, searchable
- Category - Immediate context for tool type
- Description - What it does, not marketing fluff
- Pricing - Transparent, upfront, comparable
- Trial info - Can you test before committing?
- Tags - Key features and use cases
- CTA - One clear action: learn more
Technical Implementation
Font Loading Strategy
Optimized for performance and user experience:
- Preconnect to Google Fonts for faster DNS resolution
- Variable font with optical sizing (9-144pt range)
- Only load weights 600-900 for Fraunces (headings only)
- display=swap prevents invisible text during load
- Proper fallback stack (Georgia → Cambria → Times)
Pages Updated
- Homepage - Featured tools and recently added sections
- Tools listing - Tool cards and category filters
- Tool detail pages - Headers and related tools
- Schema.org markup - Removed image properties
The Commitment
These changes reflect our commitment to showcasing your churn reduction tools the right way. We're not trying to win design awards—we're trying to help B2B teams find the exact solution they need, fast.
Every design decision asks: "Does this help users evaluate tools better?" If the answer is no, it gets removed. If the answer is yes, it gets refined until it's excellent.
Your tools deserve to be presented well. That's what we're building.
